3 creative techniques with Dixit playing cards

Dixit is a universal fantasy board game. It is often seen that friends’ companies, organizations, educators use these artistic and deep cards for communication, team building activities and creativity development. So, if you haven’t tried it yet, we suggest 3 activities with Dixit cards that we have tried ourselves.

For team building

We place face up Dixit cards on the ground or table. Then let’s ask each team member to choose one card that best represents him. Finally, everyone shows the chosen picture and briefly tells how he/she relates to it.

For fantasy development

People divide into small groups. Everyone takes three cards face down, each representing their past, present and future. Then everyone draws one card in turn and thinks about how the picture on it relates to his/her personality.

For literature lessons

The teacher spreads the cards on the table, and each student chooses one that he/she likes the most. The task is to write a short story, and the card dictates its topic. By looking at the details, colors, mood of the picture, the student creates a story and writes it down. The task can be extended later. The teacher reads one story at a time, and classmates try to understand which picture it is based on.

These are just a few examples of how Dixit cards can be used creatively. However, each of you can also come up with new ideas. Let the creativity burst through the edges!
