Dixit 6: Memories is the fifth card addition to the Dixit game. The cards are dominated by very bright colors. They first of all attract attention. And only after a few seconds, the content and details of the pictures become interesting.
This expansion is a stark contrast to the previous expansion, Dixit 5: Daydreams, which featured a lot of dark, earthy tones that lead to hazy pictorial motifs reflected in dreams.
We have artist duo Jerome Pelissier and Carine Hinder to thank for these colorful cards. Jerome also illustrated the well-known Unlock board game series.
Japanese style animation
Dixit 6: Memories expansion is probably the most suitable for playing together with children. Libellud, the publisher of the Dixit series, describes the theme of the expansion with the words: “Find vivid memories in childhoods”. There are many similarities between the cards, making it easier to find the perfect picture for the storyteller’s clue. Many of the images feature people, so you’ll have no trouble coming up with references to movies, cartoons, video games, and even songs.
The add-on is unique in that it is inspired by Japanese animation. Looking at the cards gives you the feeling of watching a strange performance. The pictures are interesting both in the main character and in the secondary plan. For example, a man sitting on a sofa with a TV on his head looks like a young representative of this generation. Meanwhile, a predictably black-and-white photo of his dad (or other family member) can be seen on the wall in the background.
